South Coast Air Quality Management District Retrofits with Diesel Particulate Filters

Location: California: South Coast

Under the competitive Regional 2008 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) grant through the West Coast Collaborative, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provided the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) $1 million in grant funding to retrofit 700 1999-2002 model year long haul heavy-duty diesel trucks with diesel particulate filters (DPF), which have been verified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This project will involve trucks that move goods throughout the Los Angeles and Inland Empire corridor between major distribution facilities and retail establishments. The SCAQMD will leverage over $7 million for this project.
